Charlotte Deans let her heart rule her head & swam against the tide of respectable, middle class propriety by eloping at 17, marrying 2 actor husbands & having 17 children with a life ‘on the road’. She suffered incredible hardships yet discovered personal talents of acting, singing & writing which enabled her to perform, manage an acting company & buy her own property by penning her memoirs - not bad for a woman back in 1837! She acted into her 70s & lived to be 90. I admire this romantic, resilient, rascal of a gal so much - she most definitely got the job done! (June)
